The hummingbird moths visit the beebalm in Priscilla's garden every day. Not only does Hemaris thysbe look at first like a tiny inch-long hummingbird but it's behavior is similar as well, in that while feeding it hovers, its wings a blur, and flits from flower to flower. Since it pauses only for a couple of seconds at each flower it helps to have a fast autofocus and a bit of luck to photograph one. It belongs to the family of sphinx moths, many of which share this behavior, but most of which are a drabber brown with stripes. Some people refer to any sphinx moth as a hummingbird moth because of their behavior, while some reserve that name for this particular species that's also colored something like a hummingbird.
